For those of you who are gluten-intolerant and/or have Ciliac Disease, we now have low-gluten (.01%) Communion hosts. These hosts are the only true, low-gluten altar breads known to the USCCB’s Secretariat for the Liturgy and which are approved for use at Mass in the United States. They were developed and are made by the Benedictine Sisters of Perpetual Adoration in Clyde, Missouri.
If you would like to receive Holy Communion with this type of host, please go to the sacristy prior to the Mass you are attending and inform the celebrant or sacristan. A low-gluten host will then be set aside for you to receive at Communion time.
